Excavation Work-‘Induced’ Landslide Injures Several Persons in Kargil Srinagar
03 Aug (CNS): During an alleged excavation work at Kabaddi Nallah in Kargil in the wee hours of Saturday morning, close to half a dozen persons suffered injuries after getting trapped under the debris following a landslide. Reports reaching the news agency CNS said that the incident took place during early morning hours at Kabaddi Nallah when an excavation work was in progress. “During the mishap, a two-storey building collapsed and a large chunk of land caved in, resulting in injuries to around seven persons who got trapped under the rubble,” reports said. To evacuate the trapped persons, a rescue operation was launched by the Indian Army, Police and other teams immediately after the incident. Following the incident, senior officers and officials including Chairman LAHDC Kargil, SSP Kargil, DC Kargil and others reached the spot to assess the situation. (CNS)
